The DYMO LabelWriter is probably the most popular address labeller around, and is available in four different models:
- The Labelwriter 450 is the entry level model running at 51 labels/min
- The Turbo version is identical except for a faster print speed of 71 labels/min
- The TWIN version has two separate print engines for users that regularly use 2 different label sizes and don't want to keep swapping rolls
- The DUO has all the great features of the Turbo but also has a built in tape printer, which uses standard Dymo Plastic and Nylon D1 tapes.
This stylish label printer has a small footprint and sits easily on your desktop, with a USB connection to your PC. The device can also be networked in a workgroup environment using the built in features of Microsoft Windows.
Whether you use it for printing one-off address labels, or mail merging 100's of addresses from a database, the LabelWriter quickly and easily gets the job done. The labels are printed with crisp 600x300dpi text, and because the image is 'burned' into the label it will not smudge or rub off like toner or ink.
The printer can do much more than just address labels though, with a variety of labels you can also use it to print labels for filing, CDs, diskettes, barcode, product labels, and general office and warehouse labelling.
The labels can be individually designed with text, barcodes, logos and other graphics which can easily be saved for later use. All of the usual features are included in the supplied label designer - different fonts, sizes, vertical/horizontal/curved text etc. The Dymo Label Software also has an address book so you can print an address label in just a few simple clicks, and is compatible with both PC and MAC computers.
You can also print from most Windows applications using the device in the same as an ordinary printers, and several add-ons are included to allow easy printing from within popular applications such as Word and Outlook. A database add-on for merging with Excel, Access and popular database files is also included.
The Dymo LabelWriter uses 'direct thermal' technology to print on the label, so does NOT need and inks, ribbons, toners, refills or any other expensive consumables - all you need is the printer and the labels (and a computer of course!)
